Wade Keegan
aliveWade Keegan
Player: Rich Teachout On-screen character: August "Gus" Vale
Actor (Off-Screen, 2015)
Working actor. Decent headshot, inconsistent income, alarming résumé of regional commercials, true-crime reenactments, corporate training videos. Box 13 feels like his first real break.
Vibe: Hungry, observant. Already noticing the props are too real. Telling himself it's method writing. Suspecting otherwise.
Actor Relationships
- Cory Vandermere: Surprising affinity. Wade keeps saying quiet, unsettling things between takes ("Hey, did the prop master say anything to you about that file?", "That extra — was she on the call sheet?"). Cory has started paying close attention. Wade has noticed that Cory listens — and is beginning to tell Cory things he hasn't told anyone else.
On-Screen Character: August "Gus" Vale
Disgraced former DOJ Inspector General. Got too close to a paper trail pointing at Box 13. Files vanished. Reputation died of bureaucracy. Then Mr. M offered him a job at the firm he was investigating. He took it. Increasingly suspects he was let in on purpose.
Specialty: Forensic accounting, reading the gaps in official records.
Notes
- Session 1: Sustained serious injuries in the dog encounter at Kessler Asylum. First aid provided by Elias outside the building.
- Session 2: Forced open the basement door at The Museum — found Amy Langon tied up on the floor.
- Session 2: Fought Steve Blum in the basement. Took 9 damage (fire axe, shoulder). Briefly killed — between one blink and the next, saw his arm severed, then it was back. +5 Cthulhu Mythos. Revived by Mordecai's Medicine roll (television).
- Session 2: Close-up shot in the ICU. −1 Sanity.
Bond Phase — Session 2
Action: Visited Elaine Mercer, his mentor. Shared what happened at the museum. Result: The conversation strained their relationship. Bond damaged.
Bond Phase — Episode 6
Action: Obsess Trigger: The uncovered grave and gnawed bones at Kessler sent Vale down a research spiral ending in old Yahoo forum posts about ghouls — details matched what he had seen.
Mechanical effects: - Cthulhu Mythos score increased (amount not recorded) - SAN lost (amount not recorded) - All Bonds −1D4 (amounts not recorded)
What he learned: See Ghouls.
Psychological state: Sat staring at the screen long after finishing reading. Something about the world felt less safe and rational.
Character Relationships
- Elias (Cory Vandermere): Mutual recognition, kept at arm's length. Both have considered telling the other what they really know, and decided not to. Best partnership when the case is bureaucratic — sealed payments, jurisdictional tangles, missing evidence transfers. They communicate in nods and do not socialize.
