Special Agent Marcus
unknownSpecial Agent Marcus
Signatory of the Operation ALICE Retainer that retained Box 13 to find Abigail Wright. Met Session 4 at the Starbucks briefing in NYC — arrived with a briefcase, ran introductions, laid out the case.
At the Briefing (Session 4)
- The CDT is understaffed, so it retained consultants.
- Assigned Operation ALICE: catalog the apartment, find any "unusual influence," destroy and report it.
- Knows nothing about Art Life; promised a dossier.
- Closed with "Find Abigail Wright" — a line Cory's Intelligence roll confirmed was already in the finale script. Marcus is speaking the script's words.
Phone Contact (Session 5)
Called the morning after the building's first night. He declined the team's request for weapons ("no weapons yet") but confirmed he is sending the promised Art Life dossier on the group that owns the McAllistor Building. Still managing the team at arm's length — information, not firepower.
The Cultural Destabilization Taskforce (CDT)
Research by Det. Jimmy Palmer:
- Created in the early 1990s
- Spawned from another sub-division: the X-Files
- Mandate: destabilize cults and counter enemy cultural attacks
- Director: Agent Marcus — the same man who signed the retainer
The Green Triangle (Session 7)
An ornate birthday invitation for Richard Zielony arrived at Box 13 HQ in a pine box (The Zielony Invitation), headed by a green triangle — a mark the crew reads as Marcus's / the CDT's. "Zielony" is Polish for "green." Whether Marcus sent the invitation, or his symbol is being used to route the crew to Boston, is unresolved.
Open Questions
- Did Marcus send the Zielony invitation, or is his green triangle being forged/borrowed?
- Why contract Box 13 specifically? Who told the CDT they exist?
- Why an anti-cult taskforce for a non-religious missing artist?
- Which name is the real one — Marcus or Dr. Marvin Bloom — and why does he need two?
- If he's X-Files M-cell leadership, why farm the symbol case out to a TV crew?
